Competitions




Introduction


The Club arranges competitions during the year, when judges evaluate the entries submitted by members and offer their observations at a club meeting. This is a excellent way for members to obtain an unbiased view of their work.

Competitions and awards for 2017/2018 will be as follows:-

Autumn, Spring and Winter Competitions


You may submit up to three prints and/or three projected images. The winning image will be awarded a shield which the author will retain until the following year.

League Awards


These are awarded using the top two marks gained on the above seasonal competitions. These awards are
also sub categorised into themes, Sport, Landscape, Portrait, Natural History and Open.

Midlothian Quaich


Awarded for the best print taken in Midlothian

Cameron Cup


Awarded for the best panel of 3 photographs on a theme.

Annual Cups


Awarded for Projected images and Prints.
Submissions must be three photographs in different categories (eg. 1 landscape, 1 sport & 1 portrait)

Jim Dickson Award


Awarded for the best MCC print in the joint exhibition with Fotoclub Hückelhoven

Jim Dickson Beginners Award


Awarded to the best beginner of the season

Arnold Rhodes Trophy


Best Black and White Print by a member

AV Award


Awarded for the best AV by a member

Apart from the major awards, which require to be returned for future years, photographs gaining the maximum 20 marks will receive a special certificate and label. Merit certificates may also be awarded, at the discretion of the Club Competition Secretary, to other photographs. Apart from Club competitions, interclub competitions are arranged throughout the season the rules for which will be arranged with the participating clubs.
