The committee of the Midlothian Camera Club has awarded Gerry Tomkinson with an Honorary Life Membership, in recognition of his long service both to the Lothian region photographic community and especially to the Midlothian Camera Club.
George McIntyre, Chair of Midlothian Camera Club in presenting Gerry with this award said,
“It is my very great pleasure on behalf of the committee to announce the decision to award an honorary lifetime membership to our great friend in photography and club member Gerry Tomkinson.
Gerry has been a member of MCC since 1982 and during this time has held the position of Vice-Chair, Chairman (twice) and on several occasions committee member. He has been instrumental in the establishing and running of the 12 way competition, which we participate in yearly, since he established this back in 2000.
He has been a highly regarded and respected SPF judge since 1997 and is much sought after by other clubs in this role.
Gerry is the epitome of what the club represents and nothing is too much trouble for him. He has over the last several years taken on the position of the ‘go to’ man for any queries in club matters. He very ably runs the club administration in an unassuming matter and nothing is too much trouble for him.
It is rarely in the position of Chairman that I will be given the opportunity to give such an award and I take great personal pleasure in making this award to a member who I hope will continue to be the inspiration that he is to all club members.
I know that all members will join me in congratulating Gerry on this very well deserved recognition of his dedication to the club.”
